Maps will be installed on the local hard disk. This information is based on Nissan Altima Technology package. We have had ours for about a month now and I want to kick myself for spending that much on such a usless item. It has the SD card slot for the maps and is impossible to add POI's even doing everything the manual says.

Maps are very old and dealer as well as update company listed in manual says I have the latest. I have several Garmin units so I have to keep one in my brand new loaded Nissan Rogue because the Garmin has lifetime map updates and is acurate with all the new roads everywhere we have been.

You cant even play a dvd or change you destination while driving with the factory unit. Stay away from these if you value your sanity!!! It will take any 7XX Garmin. I rewired it with the cig power cord so it now has a T and gets traffic and Bluetooth. Its a flip up tray on the dash so it not a temptation for GPS theives. The only thing i can figure out is NO you cant add poi files, The updating of the system is by the dealer only and cost is around usd,so i am keeping my nuvi and ti already has the lifetime update, so i am good to go.

I recently got the Sentra with GPS. So far, I am pleased. I had concerns that it would not have the functionality in my NVUI For the most part, it does.

It will take personal POI files. On the down side, it took a while for me to understand that the system has limited functionality while moving. This can be annoying. Considering all the negative responses I've heard about factory installed GPS's..
